DAY 1
Arrive in Odawara via Shinkansen and pick up your rental car, kicking off your Izu Peninsula adventure. Your first stop is the Enoura Observatory, a stunning blend of modern art, architecture, and nature.
Cruise along Izu’s east coast, where rugged cliffs, dramatic rock formations, and endless ocean views make every turn breathtaking. Stop wherever the scenery invites you—this is a drive meant to be savored.
End the day at your traditional ryokan by the coast, where you’ll unwind in an onsen before indulging in an authentic Japanese dinner.
DAY 2
Start your morning with a visit to the Kawazu Seven Waterfalls, a serene collection of cascading falls tucked within lush greenery.
Next, head to Cape Irozaki, the southernmost tip of Izu, where bays, beaches, and a lighthouse offer stunning coastal panoramas. If you’re up for it, take a boat trip along the rugged shoreline.
Drive north along the west coast to Dogashima Park, known for its sea caves and offshore islands. Explore hiking trails or opt for another boat ride to see the unique geological formations from the water.
DAY 3
As you journey north, Mount Fuji comes into view—a majestic backdrop to your drive. By afternoon, arrive at Shuzenji Onsen, one of Izu’s most scenic hot spring villages.
Nestled in the countryside, Shuzenji charms with traditional ryokans, a beautiful bamboo forest, and a serene botanical garden. Take a stroll through the historic town, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere before unwinding in your onsen.
DAY 4
Depart Shuzenji Onsen in the morning, driving towards Gotemba, home to some of Japan’s finest whisky distilleries. If the weather is clear, take in the breathtaking views of Mount Fuji at Gotemba Peace Park.
From there, cross a scenic mountain pass into Hakone, Tokyo’s favorite weekend retreat. Before returning your rental car, make a stop at the Hakone Open-Air Museum, where contemporary art blends seamlessly with nature.
Return your car in Odawara and continue your journey to Tokyo or Kyoto.
